ROUGH CUTS BrowSING PAGE:

ROUGH CUTS is a nearly-monthly performance series offering readings of works-in-progress, explorations of existing material, local premieres of recent work, and stimulating audience feedback sessions. Programs are usually presented on the second Monday (at our Lowertown Saint Paul studio) and second Tuesday (elsewhere around the Twin Cities) of every month from October through July, featuring some of the twin cities most exciting performers, often performing in-process work, presented unstaged with music stands, so audiences have to (get to) exercise their own imagination. ROUGH CUTS was created by co-Artistic Directors Ben Krywosz and Karen Miller as a nice complement to our fully-staged productions, but in 25 years has become a program in its own right, and a bridge between those highly visible events and the less public but crucial work we do with writers, composers, and performers. ROUGH CUTS presentations are cheap ($5), short (often 90 minutes), casual (but not sloppy), stimulating (just when you think you’ve got things figured out), and delicious (there’s always free cookies and milk). We are fast approaching 200 presentations since February 1995.
